Quantum Roulette is the second entry in Playtech’s Quantum series of live casino games. In a similar way to Evolution Gaming’s Lightning series, Quantum games add massive random multipliers to the traditional live casino gameplay.

Each round, after the bets are made but before the wheel spins, between one and three straight up numbers are given Quantum bonuses. These start at 50x and go up to 500x.

Where Evolution’s series uses an art-deco style with a sort of steampunk theme, Playtech has gone straight sci-fi with their Quantum branding. Expect to see blue lightning, starry skies and hear epic space opera music.

What you’re really looking for though, is the big potential wins. You can bag up to 500x your initial bet, for a multiplied straight up winner on Quantum Roulette. That’s significantly more than the usual 35:1 for a straight up bet.

🤵 Our Thoughts On Quantum Roulette

  • Very similar to Lightning Roulette
  • Fantastic studio, effects, and presenters
  • Massive win potential
  • Slightly fiddly betting layout

We have played many hours on Playtech’s latest table. Our take? Basically Quantum Roulette plays identically to Evolution’s Lightning Roulette.

That’s not a bad thing. We very much enjoyed both titles.

However, it does mean that Quantum Roulette has the same attractions and pitfalls as its rival game.

On the plus side you can get a huge win every now and then. Even the lowest 50x is double what you’d get on a normal straight up win. Then there’s also the fantastic décor and theme, with great hosts who have a particularly theatrical style to their presenting.

On the downside though, if you’re playing a particular strategy to maximize your chances of small but more regular wins – the Quantum bonuses might not benefit you at all.

That’s because they only appear on straight up bets. Many of the most popular strategies out there involve using set bets or even odd/even and red/black. These will never get any Quantum bonuses applied, meaning you might as well play a standard roulette game if you’re using them.

Lastly, Playtech’s Quantum Roulette has a slightly smaller betting layout than Evolution’s Lightning variant. Both games suffer from this, as placing straight up bets on roulette is always the fiddliest bet you’re likely to place in an online live casino.

However, it’s just that little bit more obvious in Playtech’s title. Not gamebreaking, but certainly something to think about.

Winning Potential

The maximum multiplier on Quantum Blackjack is 500x. That’s 35x the standard straight up bet payout.

Hitting one of these could see you walk away with a large profit, or easily recover your bankroll after a longer session.

It’s not possible to hit two multipliers on the same spot, sadly. And since there’s only one ball to, you’ll only ever see one multiplier win at a time.

Still 500x is no slouch of a prize, and 100x or 50x aren’t bad either.

Add to that a 29:1 win for a normal straight up winner, and you can definitely get some good hot streaks here if you’re lucky.

RTP (Return To Player)

According to Playtech Quantum Roulette’s theoretical RTP is 97.30%. That’s the same as most European tables.

In theory the multiplier bonus wins some players will get, boost up the RTP. However, it is also brought down by the 29:1 payout for a standard win, instead of 35:1.

It is also possible to play a strategy like The Martingale on Quantum Roulette. However, you won’t see any value from the Quantum bonuses.

So, if you’re looking for consistent small profits then you might not like Quantum Roulette. However, if you’re a casual player who enjoys the thrill of a potential blockbusting win – Quantum Roulette could be the game for you.

Dealer Interaction

Playtech’s Quantum wheel is completely automatic. It’s spun on a timer, by a gas piston arrangement, and the results are read by a laser.

That means the live croupier only has to announce the Quantum multipliers and then the results.

While the wheel is spinning and players are betting, they have all the time in the world to talk to the player in the chat.

As arguably the world’s second biggest live casino provider now, Playtech hosts are always professional, friendly and enthusiastic. After a few sessions you’ll definitely get to know them, and vice versa, especially if you talk often in the chat.

Mobile

Playtech are a modern company, and they do their upmost to ensure every game works well on mobile devices. Whether that’s the latest iPhone, a large tablet, or a budget Android – Quantum Roulette should run fairly well.

There’s even the option to reduce the quality of the stream, or put into a smaller size, if you’ve got an unreliable or slow connection when on the move.

There is however, one problem. Roulette is just not the best live casino game for smaller screens.

The betting interface can be fiddly at the best of times, and it’s more pronounced when there’s less space. Factor in the straight up bets needed to get those all-important Quantum bonuses and you can get some frustration here.

Straight up bets on a small touch screen are not the easiest bets to make. That’s no shade on Playtech – that’s just the way it is. If you’ve got slow fingers or a super small screen, you might find Quantum Roulette difficult to play effectively on mobile.

Which is a shame, because otherwise the fast-paced gameplay here is great for on-the-go play. Try it out and see how it feels with your device.

❓ How Does Quantum Roulette Compare?

The obvious, and correct, comparison to make with Quantum Roulette is Evolution Gaming’s Lightning Roulette.

The two games are basically the same, but with a slightly different theme and studio design.

Playtech often like to have exclusive deals with operators they supply with live casino services. So it’s nice that Playtech players can now get access to this kind of game.

Similar bonus multiplier live casino games will no doubt become even more common in the future.
